Author: Becky Wicks
Summary: Another standalone Starstruck romance from the HarperCollins author who brought you Amazon #1 bestseller Before He Was Famous and Before He Was Gone
“What if we can’t choose
Every battle we win and lose
What if we decided years before, to live this life, to fight these wars
And all the dreams we ever thought were ours
Were written in the stars”
Waiting tables isn’t exactly what singer/songwriter Stephanie has in mind for her move to Nashville, but memories of the past and a case of writer’s block mean inspiration isn’t coming easy. When brooding pianist Conor Judge opens his mouth in a smoky bar he proves music can heal, and even help you re-write your story, but a history of his own means the one thing he starts to want most is always just out of reach. Stephanie.
Enter Travis Flynn – an upcoming star who won’t take no for an answer, and a record label intent on helping Stephanie shine, without Conor. As fame comes knocking as hard as the ghosts of their pasts, it soon becomes clear that no matter how hard you might fall in love, having the perfect songs doesn’t always mean perfect harmony.
My Thoughts: I was graciously given an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
I truly enjoy how Becky weaves a story. She is an author that I know when I start reading her book I will enjoy! Her characters are always strongly written and relate-able; they have trials that they struggle through and we get character growth!
This story is particular I loved! I am so impressed with those that have musical talent and I loved diving into this world of passionate and talented musicians. Stephanie and Connor falling in love and following their dreams was a lovely tale! Perhaps my favorite read of hers…
The only ‘blemish’ I felt was how extreme Connor’s father was! I know that it was there as a struggle for Connor but at times it felt uncomfortable. Regardless, he is a minor character and it did provide Connor an internal battle that was good for the progression of the story.
These are the sort of New Adult books I love! Where you have strong characters with a plot that keeps the characters moving and growing. And I enjoyed how other minor characters were brought in to help progress the plot and even mold the main characters!
If you have not read anything from this series, I highly recommend you do. You don’t need to read the previous books but they are fantastic so please do!
