Author: Chanel Cleeton

Summary: A sexy new thriller about love and revenge from the author of the Capital Confessions and International School series…
X lives by three rules: Show no weakness. Trust no one. Don’t get caught. She lives by the rules they gave her.
The Academy—set in London, shrouded in secrecy—it trains spies, computer experts, and assassins. Their mission? Dispensing justice and altering the course of world politics. Or so they think. In a world where secrets are weapons and some kills are impossible to forget, everything X thought she knew about her life is about to change.
They taught her to fight. To blend into the shadows like a ghost, to operate on the fringes of society, to change her identity with ease. They taught her to kill.
She’ll need every skill they taught her, to stay alive.

My Thoughts: An ARC was graciously given to me in exchange for an honest review.

This is the Cleeton I love! If you want an action packed book that grips you from the start and does not let up…then this is a must read! X is deadly, and from a young age her skills have been nurtured; she’s become the best assassin at The Academy, taking down anything or anyone that’s stood in her way. But with every mission and kill in the name of blind justice she feels the darkness drowning more of herself. Snuffing out the lightness and leaving only a killer that is fiercely loyal to the secret agency that raised her and her younger sister.

When I say the plot will grip you from the start I am not joking. This had me hooked within the first few sentences. It’s dark and dangerous with characters that are just as edgy and lethal. X remembers a little bit of what came before The Academy; the nightmares plague her at night but she has no desire to uncover or remember more pieces of what haunts her. Unfortunately ghosts don’t like staying locked away and secrets have a way of creeping back out. And when your job is killing people, without a trace, those secrets and ghost are a lot more like monsters – with teeth.

I chewed through this book in a day and could not put it down! The romance was a bit different then other ones in Cleeton’s collection but I loved this style almost more than anything else she’s written! It was more smoldering glances and a gentle touches; chemistry constantly there but never taking over. You’ll be on the edge of your seat wondering what plot punch will be coming next!  ||  Chapters  ||  Goodreads
